Welcome to Highland Homestead!  This original homestead cabin, built in 1910, has been renovated from top to bottom, with specific attention placed on detail and decor to preserve its period quaintness.

You step back in time as you enter the vaulted great room with all the character, western artwork and Native Americans collectibles of a mountain log cabin.  This room also provides a queen size sleeper sofa, love seat, TV, period antiques, desk and WiFi for those who need to work remotely.  A/C keeps this cabin cool and comfortable.  A fully equipped kitchen, with vintage refrigerator and Hoosier cabinet, makes meal prep simple and convenient.   The bedroom offers a queen bed with a serene, quaking aspen view.   A clawfoot tub (with shower) is another nod to the early 1900's history of this special log cabin.  An expansive front porch reveals spectacular mountain views in every direction.  Add the aspen and pine trees, birds and wildlife with the sound of the river and you have pure heaven!  A picnic area includes a fire pit, seating, picnic table and gas grill with the same stunning views.  Our guests can enjoy another fire pit area and park bench seating along the quarter mile of Shoshone River, a beautiful blue-ribbon fishery with magnificent scenery.  While laundry facilities are unavailable at this site, nearby Cody has two public laundromats

Situated approximately halfway between Yellowstone National Park and Cody, Wyoming, this cabin sits in the heart of the breathtaking Wapiti Valley.  It provides access to 42 private acres with Shoshone River frontage, 360-degree Absaroka Mountain views and wildlife in abundance.  Step out the front door and go hiking, fishing, read on the porch, drink in the beauty of the mountains, play games on over 2 acres of lawn or just roast marshmallows by the fire.  Go horseback riding, rock climbing, rafting, zip lining or boating on the lake nearby.  It is a 20-minute drive to the world class Buffalo Bill Center of the West and the historic Cody Nite Rodeo and numerous other attractions.  Use the homestead as your home base while you enjoy Yellowstone, a mere 30-minute drive away.  Dining, shopping, and entertainment are also in close proximity.  Open your windows at night, feel the cool mountain breeze, gaze at the stars, and fall asleep to the sound of the river.  Escape to the peace and tranquility of Highland Homestead.

*River at the property closed for fishing April 1 - June 30th for trout spawning
*Indoor fireplace cannot be used.

*For larger groups, the Highland Homestead can be rented with Highland Bunkhouse. Contact our office for more information and special rates. The Bunkhouse is located on the same property and within walking distance of the Highland Homestead and the owner's home.

Breathtaking views/adorable cabin
We stayed 5 days and it was outstanding. Close to all the great places to visit. The view of the mountains and the sound of the creek was amazing. Definitely will go back.

We will be back
Stunning scenery at your amazing home. Just a spectacular and lovely place! We will be back for sure! Our very first day walked to the river and watched roughly a dozen deer and a coyote stalking them. Absolutely amazing! Can't wait to see more of the amazing things this wonderful location has to offer!

We enjoyed our stay
Art and Meg were wonderful hosts! We loved the cabin. The short walk to the river made for beautiful scenes and easy fishing. Take the drive to Yellowstone- we did the South loop and saw plenty of wildlife. Also take in the Cody Nite Rodeo. We all want to come back!

We had a wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay on our first visit to this part of Wyoming! The views of the surrounding mountains are absolutely breathtaking. And the stars at night! Creation truly sings around these parts! The cabin was great to stay in. Felt cozy and well decorated. Like it was our own little place in this vast wilderness. Also met Art and had a nice little chat. He's a very nice man and gave us excellent recommendations to drive Beartooth Pass which we did on our last day. Simply stunning! The road and the views are second to none! It is something we hope to do again one day. We will fondly remember our short stay!

Cozy home away from home
This was a cozy home away from home and great place to come back to after visiting Yellowstone. This is a beautiful home and area. Was hoping to see more wildlife here at the cabin, but we enjoyed seeing the resident deer and sitting by the river. Thank you for sharing this cabin so we could have good memories of our stay here at Yellowstone.

Loved the cabin. All the necessary amenities and then some. Nicely decorated with period pieces and books. Yellowstone was closed the 5 nights we were there so spent more time in the cabin than planned. Was nice to have the porch view, easy walk to river and satellite TV with lots of stations. It did not have shower but does has large claw foot tub with sprayer. Great property for a nature getaway.

Perfect!
I was concerned before arriving that the cabin might be small or cramped. It was a snug kitchen but aside from that it was a great space!! Beautiful matching antique furnishings throughout, lovely art pieces, beautifully finished bathroom with antique design- we just loved it. Our boys slept on the pull out sleeper sofa with no issues (they are tall 12 year olds). The only minor drawback we had is the bathroom can only be entered by going through the bedroom - and the bathroom has a curtain instead of a door. It really wasn't a big deal though. Otherwise I couldn't have asked for a more perfect space to spend our time in!! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful space with us!!

We had such a great time staying here! Perfect location to get into Yellowstone. Seeing the stars at night was almost unbelieveable compared to what we see in Chicago!

We have lived in WY for 10 years and made short trips up this way., but never spent much time. The Homestead was perfect as our home-base as we explored Yellowstone N.P. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. One morning there was a mule deer practically on the deck with us. The park this time of year is great with lots of babies to be seen. We spotted grizzly mamma and 3 cubs turning rocks 4 miles before the park entrance. Saw Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, fox, wolf pups, elk and bison. All rounded out the trip. Thank you for a great place to stay.

What a comfortable and cozy cabin. We have felt ‘at home' since we first walked through the door! All wee needed was here and more. The grounds are outstanding. It has been a delight to stroll around and perfect to be on the front porch hearing the river sounds. This place is a real gem!

Very Good
The cabin was nicely decorated, comfortable & has a wonderful view. Kitchen & bathroom were well stocked. The ceilings in the bedroom & bath were lower than I expected which caused some bumps on the head. The lack of a shower was a problem for myself & my husband. Getting in and out of the tub was difficult for a senior & if you stood in the tub you hit your head. No shower curtain.
