Event Details
The Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby is one of our favorite annual events near Cody! In 2026, it returns for an 18th year. Whether you've been present every year for this time-honored tradition or you're taking part for the first time, we know you'll have a blast!
Anglers from all over come to try their hand in this beloved competition. After all, what better way to break the ice and meet some new friends than participating in an activity you love? Beyond the friendly competition, there are even some cash prizes involved.
Even those who aren't experienced anglers will have a great time at the derby. The backdrop of the competition on Sunshine Reservoir is absolutely stunning, so every spectator is in for a treat.
Traveling with your kids? Bring the whole family along for a day of frozen fun! Your kiddos can get involved at the derby, too. The Small Fry Ice Fishing Derby is open to kids 12 and under!
The whole day is full of good cheer and new friends, and it's one of our very favorite events near Cody (just a 30 minute drive away!). Check out the full two days of fishing this year on February 13th-15th, 2026!
